TRAIN

TRAnscendIng Natural hazards forecasting (TRAIN), an Environmental and Energy Study Institute (EESI) Center Initiative

Mission and Scope

TRAIN is an Environmental and Energy Study Institute (EESI) Center Initiative.

TRAIN aims to transform complex geophysical and atmospheric data from ground-based and remote sensing measurements into actionable risk intelligence through advanced computational and data sciences approaches and high-performance computing and simulations. We will thus bridge the gap between raw information and community resilience

There is a crucial need to better simulate and forecast natural hazards to thrive on a living planet – natural hazards are not going away any time soon and affect drastically populations, infrastructures, economies, and our environment.

TRAIN aims to build the community at Penn State to become a nationally recognized Center for natural hazards where research innovation can happen to respond proactively to funding opportunities and coordinate natural hazard responses.
